We are happy to announce that we are now a Dementia Friend, joining the UK’s biggest ever initiative to change the way people think, act and talk about dementia.
The staff took part in an interactive and informative on-site training session that provided us with an understanding of how to interact with people with the condition.
The session was led by a local Dementia Friends Champion, who gave real-life examples of how it can affect individuals’ everyday lives, from small things like making a cup of tea, doing the shopping, to bigger things like working and spending time with loved ones.
As a company that supplies healthcare equipment, we felt it was vital that we had the right training, to support any customer with the condition appropriately.
Look out for staff members wearing their Dementia Friend badge when you pop into the mobility shop, or when we visit on a home demo.

What is Dementia?
Dementia is caused by a number of diseases that affect the brain. The most common is Alzheimer’s but diseases also include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and Pick’s disease.
Different types of dementia affect the brain at different rates and in different ways, but other things like someone’s personal circumstances, the people around them and the environment in which they live, will affect their experience of dementia. Dementia progresses in a way that is unique to each individual.
