Locals and visitors to Hastings recently came together to celebrate the restoration of the Eastern Wall and path build at Summerfields woods.

During the celebrations attendees had a go at willow weaving with Julie Gurr, spinning with the Hastings 1066 Spinners, and learnt about woodland conservation with Hastings Conservation Volunteers.

From 1pm there was a ceremony to acknowledge all who have been part of the restoration project. This included a talk from Mary Sue Powell, a distant relative of the Brisco family, which owned the walled garden in Victorian times.

Mary had flown in especially from America, to represent her family and prior to the event, had contacted Ghyllside to hire a boot scooter for her friend. Without which, she wouldn’t have been able to attend the event and enjoy the celebrations.

We were more than happy to help and received great feedback from Mary.

“Thank you Ghyllside for all your help. It was great to have the option to hire, as the scooter was only needed for short-term use. The scooter it self was very good, sturdy and compact! ”
